Home Visit Christian Science Nursing Service Fees

As a non-profit benevolent organization, we make every effort to keep our fees as low as possible. Visits are billed on an hourly basis.
- Minimum – $50 per visit (includes up to one hour)
- Subsequent time – prorated at $40 per hour
- Maximum per day – $300, regardless of the length of visit(s) or number of nurses
- Supplies are charged for as used. (There are no longer any travel charges.)
Financial Benefits
Canterbury’s mission is to make appropriate Christian Science nursing care available, regardless of financial means. While Medicare benefits are not available (Medicare coverage is only available at facilities such as Arden Wood in CA or Sunrise Haven in WA), Christian Science nursing charges may qualify for home nursing benefits in both critical care and long-term care insurance policies. Feel free to contact the administrative office for help in evaluating insurance you have or are considering. Also, through the help of generous supporters, qualified financial aid is available in the form of benevolent loans or grants. Benevolence is considered regardless of where the care is provided.
Cottage Accommodations: home-away-from-home
In addition to visiting patients in their own homes, we maintain a private residence, referred to as the “Cottage,” so that we are always prepared to provide home visits, either “in your home or ours.” This “home-away-from-home” is located in a quiet neighborhood of the Garden Home district in SW Portland: 8838 SW 57th Avenue. Accommodations at the Cottage are made available (without additional charge) to patients who live outside of our typical travel range, and otherwise for patients whose care is best provided away from their own home. Cottage accommodations are made available free of charge. (However, the Cottage is not a residence for Christian Scientists.) Nursing Equipment Available for Loan
We have a wide variety of nursing equipment to loan to patients of Christian Science practitioners. Just call for an assessment of need and the loan, all without charge.
